The world is on life support.

We are the blind leading the blind. New age self-help - whilst coming from a (mostly) good place - is deepening our wounds. We have gone from an age where no-one talked about mental health to a time where people are using it as a self-imposed identity to be a perpetual victim. We have gone from saying money is the root of all evil, to a culture of hustle and grind, where endless hours of work and sleepless nights a commended as 'getting after it'

'Getting after' what exactly ?

If you take a deep, hard look at your goals, habits and behaviours, you may find that the deep drive to do all the things you do everyday is to live up to the values and expectations of a society that has told you from day 1 how to live - and what constitutes a valuable human being.

To be valuable you must work hard, succeed achieve. What this all comes down to is power. Power over others and power over yourself. It is a violent attitude towards life. Everything and everyone is in competition to gain power. The power over yourself is the most violent act against oneself.

I am not saying that the desire to improve oneself is bad, but that your motivation to do it is almost certainly coming from a bad place. Our society tells us to improve, we feel we must constantly be doing something - yet we never stop and ask why we feel this urge. We never examine to the true feelings that make us run on the hamster wheel.

Perhaps we don't becuase our ego won't let us. If we took a hard look at the primal drives that fuel us, we will see we are run by fear.

fear of poverty

fear of abandonemnt

fear of powerlessness

fear of being laughed at

fear of not being good enough

Whenever our goals and actions come from fear they become a negative experience - how can they not ?

The 'need' for the goal to be attained gives it, and the process to get there, a bad taste in the mouth. If the goal is not attained we now deal with the feelings of failure, guilt and shame that only come when we put goals on a pedestal of 'must have'

If we do achieve the goal, we never enjoy it as now we fret and cling to it staying around, killing any enjoyment of it.

This is the wheel of the ego, a never-ending cycle or desire-cling-desire-cling.

To make matters worse, these goals you chase arent even your own. From birth society has told you how to be. The biggest culprits feeding you with the fear of not living up to the standards being parents, priests and politicians. They take your unique shape and shove it into a square hole no matter how painful it may be.

This is the mechanism by which the individual is killed. So what must we do?

You must flip society on its head. Become widely rebellious - not in a violent sense - to the habits of your mind, the way you think and feel about yourself and your place in the world.

Ask yourself who and what are you without the labels that have been put on you ?

Ask this of every aspect of life you think is 'just so'

Everything must be questioned to rediscover who you really are.

Do not blindly believe. This is the game of religions and obeideicne. Doubt everything and keep doubting with extreme scrutiny until only the truth survives.

The truth will set you free and society is not interested in truth. Society is interested in what benefits society. Your ego wants to fit it and survive and so loves society and its taps. It will not seek to fix the root cause of a problem only put a band-aid over the wound.

See your truth and you will experience a funny paradox. . . .

As you discover your uniqueness, your wholeness and perfection as you are, your inherent value as an entity, you will see more clearly what gifts you have. You will sink into the present moment, you will enjoy life as it is, without needing anything.

This will in fact being you more success and happiness than before. Your actions will be totally aligned, you will no longer be split down the middle. You will do things for the sake of doing them and in so doing create even better results. You won't cling to the consequences, life will be play for you.

You will be one of the few in the world who can see without the blinders on. This flowering into a free, conscious, awake being is the greatest gift you can give the world.

You will have more of a positive impact on your family, friends community and world as a free, totality authentic being than even the most successful human driven by egoic needs.
